God's Love and God's Judgement

Living with Convictions in the World we live in

Whatever we give our greatest time, our greatest energies, and our greatest resources to is a good indication of where our convictions lie. Some live a life of conviction about sports, others around money, still others for pleasure, and so on. As Christians we should have some Godly convictions that define who we are and determine our lifestyle and choices. In order to have impact, each of us must be reflecting a faith that is demonstrated through deeply held convictions.

Col. 2:6 "As you have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him"

Eph. 4:1 "I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called"

Are you living a life of deep conviction that moves you to be a reflection of the power of Christ in your life? God calls each of us to a supernatural life not simply a good, moral life. Our convictions are constantly on display for all to see, because we live them out each day with our words and actions. Since our convictions have such a powerful influence, we must examine them to see whether they contribute to a righteous life in accordance with God’s will or are leading us into a life dominated by our old fleshly nature. If you are not living the gospel with great conviction, ask the Holy Spirit to so fill your life today that the power of His Spirit is truly reflected in your life so that you may impact others in your workplace.

We need to consider convictions that arise from our beliefs as Christians. They should limit our behavior and may cause us discomfort when we have to take a stand among those that don't share our beliefs.

Convictions based on confidence in God’s Word, we are so convinced about that we are willing to take a stand regardless of the consequences. Convictions shape not only what we believe and how we live.

So what motivates us to do wrong even when we know what’s right? This can come from fear of criticism, rejection or loss. We live in a society in which people claim their right to do as they please. We could loose friends, jobs, promotions, etc; for standing on our convictions.

Consider some other verses. Notice the use of the word 'walk' in relation to daily living for God, in a depraved world.

Gal. 5:16 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.

Eph. 2:10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.

Eph. 5:8 For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light

1 John 1:7 But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.

1 John 2:6 He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked.

2 John 1:6 This is love, that we walk according to His commandments. This is the commandment, that as you have heard from the beginning, you should walk in it.
